PrivaPDF – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
In short: PrivaPDF does not collect, transmit or sell any of your data. Your PDF files are processed only on your computer.
1. Processing of your files
Everything you do in PrivaPDF – editing, signing, filling forms, compressing, redacting, text recognition (OCR), converting – happens inside the Chrome browser on your device. Your files are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We do not operate servers that receive your documents.
2. Data stored on your device
To make PrivaPDF more convenient, the following is saved locally in your browser and never leaves your device:
- Recently opened files (up to 8, can be switched off and deleted on the start screen)
- Saved signatures (only if you choose "Save for later"; can be deleted at any time)
- "My data" for automatic form filling (only what you enter yourself; can be deleted with one click)
- Settings such as your choices in the editor
- The date and version of your first use of PrivaPDF (so that early users can get benefits in a later version)
You can remove all of this at any time in the editor or by removing the extension.
3. Network access
PrivaPDF only uses the network when you ask it to open a PDF from a web address (for example with the right-click menu "Open with PrivaPDF" or the toolbar button on a PDF tab). In that case the PDF is downloaded directly from the website it comes from, like a normal download. Access to a website is only granted after you allow it for that specific site.
4. AI summary
The optional AI summary uses the AI model built into Google Chrome on your device. The text of your document is processed locally by Chrome and is not sent to us. If Chrome needs to download its model first, this download is handled by Chrome itself.
5. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising
PrivaPDF contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party scripts that collect data. We do not know which files you open or what you do in the editor.
6. Permissions
- contextMenus: adds "Open with PrivaPDF" to the right-click menu of PDF links.
- activeTab: lets the toolbar button open the PDF shown in the current tab, only when you click it.
- Optional access to websites: requested for a single site only when a PDF from that site cannot be loaded otherwise.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Questions: islak.support@gmail.com
PrivaPDF – Datenschutzerklärung
Stand: 14. Oktober 2026
1. Verarbeitung deiner Dateien
